School Counselor
I have worked with middle school aged students since 1995 as a counselor, then Day Camp Director with the Sherman Lake YMCA. In 2013 after taking time to stay home with my second child, I went back to KVCC and WMU to finish my undergraduate degree. In 2017 I graduated with my Master’s Degree in School Counseling. After stops at two other districts as a counselor, I have found my way back to my alma mater.
Building relationships with students and helping them to maneuver through school, social and emotional concerns has been my passion going back to my days as a teenage counselor at camp. I look forward to working with these amazing students, families and the community to support the school as a whole.
As a school counselor, I am passionate about supporting students in their academic, social, and emotional development. I work with students individually, in small groups, and within the classroom to promote student growth and success. I serve as a collaborative partner with students, families, teachers, and staff, and value building strong relationships.
I received my training in school counselor education at Grand Valley State University. I have experience supporting students through my school counseling internship and practicum, as well as in my work as a paraprofessional, where I collaborated closely with teachers, intervention staff, and families to support diverse student needs.
I am committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that helps students grow as learners while developing the confidence and skills necessary to become leaders.
