Welcome to my classes.

This is my 22nd year of teaching at Gull Lake High School and my fifth year teaching Advanced Placement Literature. During my time here at Gull Lake, I have also taught almost every English class offered. As the adviser for our award-winning journalism programs for eighteen years, I'm kept exceptionally busy.

I love teaching, and I am excited to continue to stretch myself and my students this coming year.

If you need to contact me, please use the information below. I'm at school before 7 a.m. each morning and I'm usually at school until 3:30 p.m. Also note my planning period.

  • AP Literature and Composition

Welcome to the Advanced Placement English Literature class. You will find the class not only challenging, but also rewarding and enjoyable as you prepare for the exam in May and for your freshman year in college. Your success in the class is tied to your commitment to read, question your ideas, and take the risk involved in interpreting literature. The class will read, discuss, and write about many literary works during the year; however, you should not limit your reading to teacher-assigned works. The course is designed to read carefully major literary works from the classical to the modern period, enabling you to develop an awareness of language and an understanding of the writer’s craft.
