Early College Program Information
Gull Lake Early College (GLEC) Program Highlights
Gull Lake Community Schools Early College (GLEC) is a fifth-year high school program that combines and extends high school with an early college experience. The goal is to provide students with a high school diploma and college credits, up to an Associate's Degree.
Key Benefits & Goals
- Cost Savings: Gull Lake Community Schools pays for the cost of tuition, course materials, and fees (up to an allocated amount).
- Time Savings: Students have the opportunity to earn college credits for up to three years, with the final year taking place after their original high school graduation.
- Post-Graduation Success: Increases the number of GLCS students enrolling in and completing college.
- Supportive Environment: Students receive support services to assist in the transition from high school to college.
Program Design: The 3-Year Transition for GLEC Students
Students gradually transition from traditional high school to full-time college over three years (grades 11, 12, and 13).

Partners & Instruction
- College Partners: Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Kellogg Community College, and Western Michigan University.
- Instruction: Offered through both online and face-to-face educational instruction at the college and GLHS.
Enrollment Process
- Eligibility: Students should be motivated and willing to perform successfully at both the high school and college levels.
- Application Window: Applications are accepted during the 10th grade year from January to August 1st.
- Requirement: Students MUST be accepted into the program before beginning their junior year.
