Checklist for Parents

My child:

____ makes sounds, sings or talks to self when alone.

____ has a favorite book.

____ knows books by their covers.

____ pretends to read books.

____ holds books and turns pages the “right” way.

____ brings books to me to read.

____ names things in books.

____ likes to sing or say silly rhymes.

____ talks about the people, places and things in books.

____ knows that the letters and words are what is being read.

____ asks me to write his name or simples words.

____ scribbles and then reads me the “words.”
